The conceptual yarn manufacturer Bottle Rocket Fibers Co. wants to spark creativity in their customers and set themselves apart from the competition in a groovy way. Like a soda bottle gets an explosive new purpose when fashioned into a mini rocket, so too can old materials become fun again.
In my research I found that most eco-conscious, recycled fiber yarn brands stick to the classics of brown and green hues, peaceful Earth graphics, and gentle lines; but I believe that just because a product is “kinder to the environment” doesn’t mean it has to look that way. So these labels go about shouting their message and breaking out of flat baselines.
All of the wiggly letterforms were digitally hand-drawn by me to fit into their alloted sections on the label. Repeated letters had no more than two different variations; making up somewhat of an informal typeface. I also illustrated the Bottle Rocket logomark and supporting graphics. Tarzana Wide, a typeface with flipping tails and a squat height, paired nicely for the important text information near the bar code.
