Brochure
8.5″ x 11″
Flat double-sided
Client: Every Voice, a non-profit organization that had advocated for free and fair elections and the regulation of money in politics
In 2015, Every Voice had a report on successes in small-donor funded elections that needed a compelling visual design. They provided abridged text and images, a general direction for each side, and their branding guide book. I completed the brochure then, but recently revisited the design to improve a number of things.
The very first issue I addressed was to bring all content inwards with a larger margin and to get rid of bleeding edges. Since this was for a non-profit and already double-sided, they didn’t need the extra cost of trimming down to a standard letter size page. Overall typography was tightened up to reduce font style clutter while improving text grouping.
On the map side, content was rearranged for clearer hierarchy and simpler, structural graphics. I kept the bold color-blocking on the text heavy (but unevenly distributed) profiles side because it so quickly delineates them. Baselines and photos were better aligned to a grid here as well.
